Critical Speeding

This article describes the Critical Speeding Event Type in VideoProtects®, which flags Speeding Events that exceed a set threshold above the posted speed limit. By default, this threshold is 15 mph but can be adjusted by navigating to Settings > Notifications and editing the Critical Speeding configuration. The guide also notes that enabling or disabling notifications in this section does not affect Camera Event recording, and users should contact VideoProtects Support to confirm which Events are active on the camera.

Details

Critical Speeding is an event type that automatically converts existing speeding events when a certain, defined threshold is met.

For example, if the regular speeding threshold is set to 5 mph over the posted limit sign:

  • Driver is driving at 50 mph, limit sign is 45 mph= speeding event
  • Driver is driving at 50 mph, limit sign is 45 mph but the critical speeding event is configured for 10 mph= speeding event
  • Driver is driving at 55 mph, limit sign is 45 mph but the critical speeding event is configured for 10 mph= critical speeding event

The critical speeding is set to 15 mph by default, but can be edited.

Go to Settings > Notifications in the left side menu.
