Disposing a Unit

This article explains how to dispose of a Unit in Encompass within the Vehicle Management > Units section. Users can either edit the Unit File to add a Disposition Date or use the "Del" option to walk through the disposal process. When disposing of a Unit, a Date and Reason must be entered, and the Unit will then appear in the All Disposed Units view. It is important to note that disposing does not permanently delete the Unit; to remove it completely, users must follow the separate process for purging Units.

 

To start, go to Vehicle Management > Units.

Find the unit using the search function on the left or a list view.

When the unit is found, there are two options to the right of the unit, Edit and Del. The unit is disposed by adding a disposition date to the unit file.  Click Edit to add a date to that field, or click Del and it will walk the user through disposing the unit.

Enter the date the unit was disposed and a reason why the unit is being disposed. Click Yes to save.

Note:  While the term 'delete' is being used, the unit will not be removed from the system.  Instead, it will go into the All Disposed Units view.  To permanently remove the unit from Encompass, see Purging Units
