Entry Level Driver Training FAQ
As of February 7, 2022, drivers applying for an initial CDL, upgrading a current CDL, or obtaining a hazardous materials, passenger, or school bus endorsement will need to complete entry-level driver training. This training includes both theory and behind-the-wheel instruction, with the instruction provided by an entity listed on a Training Provider Registry (TPR), administered by FMCSA.
If a school and/or instructor is on the Training Provider Registry(TPR), will I be ready to get my permit after taking ELDT online courses?
No, you will need to fulfill the behind the wheel portion of the requirement.
Can I enroll myself in the ELDT Courses?
You must be enrolled via a Training Provider/school. Access the Training Provider Registry on the FMCSA Website here: Training Provider Registry (dot.gov)
I signed up for ELDT Courses on JJKellertraining.com without going through a Training Provider/school. What do I do now?
Visit the Training Provider Registry (dot.gov) and contact a Training Provider for next steps.
Does JJ Keller send any information to the DMV?
No, we do not communicate the completion of the ELDT Courses with the DMV. Instructors should certify on the TPR students' successful completion of the ELDT course by midnight of the second business day after the course was completed.
You can check your record on TPR to see what instructors have entered about you by going to the TPR Website-Training Provider Registry (dot.gov)
