Managing User Access in SMS
Account Administrators for SMS Teams and Corporate Accounts can manage user access directly within SMS. This includes adding new users and removing access for existing users.
Notes before you begin:
- You must be logged in as an Account Administrator.
- User access changes do not affect billing or the primary account Subscriber.
Access User Settings
First, click the small arrow to the right of your initials in the upper-right corner. Then click Settings.

Click User Access.

Add a New User
From User Access, click the Add New button.

Enter the required user information and set the Status to Active. Click Add to save.

Once the new user is added, you will need to select a role for the user from the Role drop down menu.

After selecting the role, click Save.

The new user is added and automatically receives a Welcome Email with instructions for accessing SMS.
Remove or Disable a User
Important Note: The main account Administrator cannot be removed from the account; however, you can remove other users as needed.
From User Access, locate the user you want to remove from the User drop down menu. Select the Edit (pencil) icon next to the user’s email address.

Change the Status to Inactive. Click Update to save.

The user will no longer be able to access SMS.
Replace a User
If a user is leaving your organization and needs to be replaced, set the existing user to Inactive, then follow the steps in Add a New User to create access for the replacement.

User Features
User Features impacts which features a User can access within SMS. When a feature (such as viewing SDS Binders under Chemicals) is not visible or available in your account, follow the steps below to view the features or to add anything that may be missing.
From the main menu, select Settings.

Under Settings, choose Feature Access.

Open the User Features tab. Select the appropriate User or User Group from the drop-down menu.

Choose the Feature you want to enable or update. Select Save to apply your changes.

Additional Notes
- Inactive users remain visible in SMS for reference.
- User access changes take effect immediately after saving.
- Administrators can reactivate a user at any time by changing their Status back to Active.
