Encompass® ELD App Update Policy
Beginning November 20, 2023
J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc.® purpose is: "We Protect People & The Businesses They Run." To ensure our customers' continued compliance with FMCSA and/or Transport Canada ELD Mandate regulations, J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc. will begin requiring users of the ELD application to update when there are newer versions of the app available.
Why are app updates going to be required?
Sometimes, FMSCA and/or Transport Canada come out with new/updated ELD regulations. Additionally, sometimes bugs are identified in the app that affect continued compliance. J.J. Keller works diligently to make all necessary changes to the ELD application for continued compliance with FMCSA and/or Transport Canada regulations. It is important for your company to stay in compliance, and regularly updating the ELD app ensures your company is using the most up-to-date application.
Updates will only be required when an app release occurs that includes changes affecting ELD Mandate Compliance.
What does this mean for my drivers?
Your drivers will receive a pop-up message on their ELD device explaining the update.
Drivers are allowed to defer/decline the ELD app update three (3) times before they are required to update. After deferring to update the app three times, on the fourth time, the driver will not be able to continue using the app until they update it. They can click the Update Now button to be routed directly to the device's application store (ie. Apple App Store or the Google Play Store) to easily update the app. Once the update is complete, the driver must relaunch the app.
