Fault Codes in Encompass

Overview

The VT100 with Vehicle Tracking Plus and Encompass Gen 2.5 ELD are now able to send active Engine Fault Codes to Encompass from the vehicle port they are plugged into. Engine Fault Codes are diagnostics trouble codes that can indicate there is an issue with the vehicle. These Fault Codes will not be displayed in the mobile app; they will be submitted directly into Encompass. These Fault Codes are intended to be informational to the company to monitor the health of their vehicles.

Viewing & Managing All Fault Codes

Users can view Fault Codes about all units via the Fault Codes tab under Vehicles > Maintenance.

Note: Users will need Unit Maintenance Files roles set up to be able to view or edit Fault Codes in Encompass.

This view will contain the list of all Fault Codes last reported in the given date range (default is the last 30 days).

  • Fault Code: The reported Fault Code from the connected device.
  • Priority: There are 2 priorities - Normal and Urgent. All Fault Codes come into Encompass as a Normal Priority. Users can set the Fault Code to Urgent Priority if needed.
  • First Detected: The first time the Fault Code was reported for the given unit on the provided databus for that Company Level.
  • Last Reported: The most recent occurrence of the Fault Code for the given unit on the provided databus for that Company Level.
  • Status: There are 2 statuses - Active and Cleared. Fault Codes that come into Encompass will be marked as Active. The user can mark them as Cleared.
    • If a Cleared Fault Code in Encompass is reported again from the unit as Active, the Cleared status will be set to Active when sent to Encompass.

Users can perform the following actions about a Fault Code:

  • Edit: Users can edit the Priority, Status, and Notes about a Fault Code.
    • Editing the Priority from Normal to Urgent will ensure that any future instances of that Fault Code for that combination of Unit Code, Company Level, and Databus Type will come in with that stored Priority.
  • Manage Attachments: Users can add/manage attachments about a Fault Code for a unit.
  • Clear: Clear is only available to Fault Codes that are in current Active status. Clearing a Fault Code sets the status to Cleared.

Viewing & Managing Individual Fault Codes

Users can view Fault Codes about individual units via the Maintenance tab in the Unit File. At the bottom of the Maintenance tab is a card for Engine Fault Codes. The same actions the user could complete at the Roster level can be done here as well (Edit, Manage Attachments, Clear).
