Configuring Asset Trackers
Configuration
When Asset Trackers are shipped, they will display in Encompass in the Connected Devices List shown below (Settings > Vehicles > Connected Devices).
Action is required (configuration) to assign it to a company before the Asset Tracker will display on the map.
To set the configuration, select Edit.
On the Edit Asset Tracker screen, you can set the following:
- Asset Name
- Company Name
- This must be set for the device to report pings back to Encompass.
- Assigned Unit
- Check-In Frequency Parked
- Determines how frequently the device will ping when motion is not detected.
- Check-In Frequency In-Motion
- Determines how frequently the device will ping when motion is detected.
- Stop Time Duration
- Defines how long an asset has 0 speed to determine 'Stopped'.
Notice that Asset Name or Assigned Unit are not required. The intent of the device is to be able to be put on anything the company would like to track; that may or may not be a powered unit or trailer stored in Encompass. The Asset Name allows for a simple readable name. If none is selected, the Serial Number of the device is the default name.
*Note: If you have a more frequent Check-In Frequency, this may reduce the battery life of the device.
