No Lights on ELD

If there are no lights on your ELD, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Check Harness Connections: Make sure the harness is securely connected at both ends (to the ELD and the vehicle). If it's loose, tighten it up.
  2. Inspect for Damage: Look for any signs of damage on the harness or the ELD itself, like cuts or crimps. If you find any damage, it's best to replace the affected part. Please note, damage isn't covered under warranty.
  3. Check the Fuse: Take a peek in the fuse box to see if the fuse for the diagnostic port is blown.
  4. Power Cycle the ELD: Try turning the ELD off by disconnecting it for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in.
  5. Swap Hardware: If the issue persists, try swapping out the J. J. Keller hardware (harness and ELD) in the vehicle. If you don't have spare hardware, you can borrow from another working vehicle. Remember to change only one piece at a time to pinpoint the problem.
  6. If a new harness solves the issue, then the problem lies with the harness. Please contact us with the type of harness you need, and we'll help you get a replacement.
  7. If swapping the ELD reveals lights on the new one, then the issue lies with the old/original ELD. Again, contact J. J. Keller support so we can determine if the ELD is under warranty. We can arrange for a replacement.
  8. Mechanic Inspection: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's likely a problem with the truck itself. Please have a mechanic inspect and address the issue.
