Dash Cam Lights and Indicators
The status bar on the Dash Cam 220 helps the driver ensure that it is operating properly. When the green light is illuminated in the first bar on the right, and no other lights are illuminated, the dash camera has power and is ready to record. The remaining icons and their status descriptions are listed below.

Icon | Definition | Status Description/Information |
---|---|---|
1 | Power (PWR) |
Power connection is good: green light No light: No power connection
*Note: This icon will be lit up solid green when the camera has power. The camera must have power to perform any function - recording, uploading videos, etc. |
2 | Alarm (ALM) | Default: light off When an alarm event is triggered, the red light will blink three times |
3 | GPS |
GPS signal normal: light off
*If the camera is receiving a "good" GPS signal, this icon will be off. If the GPS signal is being blocked by interference of some kind (ex. a metal roof or the vehicle/camera is underground) the icon will be lit up solid red to indicate the GPS signal has been lost. The light should go off as soon as the GPS signal is restored. **IMPORTANT: A valid GPS signal is required for the camera to be able to calculate the vehicle's speed and trigger any of the speed-based alarms accurately. If there is no GPS signal, speed-based events will not trigger. |
4 | NET |
Network connection normal: light off
*If the camera's SIM card is able to connect to a valid 4G cellular network in the area, the icon will be off. If no valid cellular connection can be established, the icon will be lit up solid red. The camera must have a valid 4G connection to communicate with the back office server to upload videos and manage camera status and firmware. **IMPORTANT: Our cellular data plan includes all the major cellular providers in the US and Canada; the camera SIM should automatically roam and connect to the best signal available. |
5 |
WIFI (Used by camera installers) |
Client mode: light off
*During camera startup, this icon will light solid red for 3 minutes while the camera broadcasts a local Wi-Fi signal (Access Point mode). This is used to connect with special camera configuration software, if needed, during installation. After 3 minutes, if nothing connects to the signal the camera will drop the signal and revert to client mode - the icon will turn off. ***If the red light stays on, contact support: 1-833-933-0971 or supportvideoprotects@jjkeller.com |
6 | Road-facing Camera |
Video recording working: light off
*If the Channel 1 (road-facing camera) is working properly, this icon will be off. |
7 |
Safety Cabin Camera (Not applicable to road-facing only camera users) |
Video recording working: light off Video recording abnormal/privacy mode: red light
*If Channel 2 (driver-facing camera) is working properly, this icon will be off. If there is a fault with the camera and it is not recording, either due to failed camera hardware, Channel 2 being disabled in the configuration, or a faulty or improperly seated SD card, this icon will be lit up solid red. **IMPORTANT: For Road-Facing Only customers, this icon may be lit up solid red at all times since Channel 2 is purposely disabled. This behavior is dependent upon the firmware level of the camera (older versions of firmware do not light up this icon if Channel 2 is disabled in the configuration settings). |
8 |
REC (Applicable if auxiliary camera(s) are installed) |
No extra camera connection or extra camera working: light off
*If the main camera has either a 3rd and/or 4th camera attached and they are working properly, this icon will be off. If there is a fault detected with either of these additional camera(s), this icon will light solid red. |
Button | Driver Initiated |
The Driver Initiated button allows a driver to manually capture an event or perform a test video. When the button is pushed, all connected cameras will capture video footage for five seconds before and after the event (default) or for the length of time configured by the administrator. The engine must be on for the video capture. After the button is pushed, it should take about 15 - 20 min. to process. *If the test video/captured event doesn't come through to your system, this could mean that the camera is not paired properly, there is no data connection, or there is no power to the camera.
Should an incident occur, a driver can press the Driver Initiated button. This will capture a 10 sec. video, and provides a timestamp or idea of when an incident may have occurred. |
