VideoProtects: Video Retention

Video Events and Recalls have a default retention setting of 180 days, meaning once 180 days have passed since a Video Event/Recall was generated, the video will automatically be deleted from the system via a nightly purge process. A shorter retention period (30, 60, or 90 days) can be applied if desired.

To view/edit the retention settings, go to the VideoProtects > Settings > Event Configurations tab (Super Admin permission is required).

The first setting allows you to select the retention duration (30, 60, 90, or 180 days).

The second setting allows you to select whether to delete only videos (by selecting Yes) or delete both the videos and associated data (by selecting No).

To save a Video Event, perform one of the following actions:

  • Flag the Video – Flagged Video Events are not deleted by the purge.
    • Video Recalls can be Promoted to Video Events and then flagged if needed.
  • Download the Video – On the Video Event Details page, you can download each video channel to save videos indefinitely.

Note: Video Review Service clients (past and present) have a mandatory 3 year retention period for FCRA compliance. VRS clients will NOT be able to edit retention settings.
