Video Event Types

Videos can automatically be detected and uploaded for the event types listed below.  For assistance with updating configuration settings for these events, contact supportvideoprotects@jjkeller.com.

  • Cell Phone: A Cell Phone event is triggered when the camera detects the driver holding a cell phone.
  • Collision Detected: A Collision Detected event occurs when the device detects a g-force event of 2.5 in one second in any direction.
  • Combination: A Combination event represents multiple events occurring at the same time.  View the tool-tip to see a list of all detected events in the video.
  • Critical Speeding: A regular Speed Limit Violation is upgraded to a Critical Speeding event if the vehicle speed exceeds the posted speed limit sign by the threshold configured in Video > Configuration > Settings > Event Configurations.

  • Distracted DriverA Distracted Driver event is triggered when the driver looks down or away from the straight-ahead position for a certain amount of time.
  • Driver Fatigue: A Driver Fatigue event is triggered when the camera detects that the driver's eyes are closing for a certain amount of time.
  • Driver Initiated: A Driver Initiated event is a manual video capture generated by the driver pressing the Driver Initiated/Panic button on the camera for one second.
  • Driver View Obstructed: A Driver View Obstructed event is triggered when the vehicle is traveling within the configured speed range and the camera cannot detect the driver's face for a certain amount of time.
  • Lens Covered: A Lens Covered event is triggered if the road-facing camera does not detect enough light coming through the lens.
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW): A Forward Collision Warning event occurs when the camera detects an imminent collision with the leading vehicle.
  • Harsh Acceleration: A Harsh Acceleration event occurs when g-force event thresholds are broken during vehicle acceleration.
  • Harsh Braking: A Harsh Braking event occurs when g-force event thresholds are broken when brakes are applied.
  • Harsh Cornering: A Harsh Cornering event occurs when g-force event thresholds are broken when the vehicle turns.
  • No Seatbelt: A No Seatbelt event is triggered when the camera cannot detect a seatbelt.
  • Pedestrian Collision Warning (PCW): A Pedestrian Collision Warning event is triggered when the camera detects a pedestrian in the vehicle’s path.
  • Promoted Video Recall: A Promoted Video Recall is a video that was retrieved from the camera via a Video Recall and promoted to the same workflow of a generated event using the Promote action.
  • Speed Limit Violation: A Speed Limit Violation event occurs when a driver exceeds the posted speed limit.
  • Stop Sign Violation: A Stop Sign Violation event occurs when a driver fails to come to a complete stop at a stop sign before proceeding.
  • Tailgating: A Tailgating event is triggered when the vehicle violates the allowable following distance behind the leading vehicle (calculated using current speed and distance).
